Local Hike with Outdoor Meeting – Preliminary Information – subject to change

Local Hike – Saturday 9 am – Noon

Location
– A portion of White Rocks Trail, Snow Canyon State Park (Location)

How to access
– Drive north out of St. George on Bluff Street.  Bluff Street turns into Highway 18 leading north to Veyo, Utah.  Drive approximately 11 ½ miles north of St. George.  Just past mile marker 11 turn left into the small dirt trailhead for White Rocks Trail (the trail is signed).  You will have passed the Ledges and Winchester Hills communities and the northern entrance into Snow Canyon State Park.  Immediately after the northern entrance into Snow Canyon State Park, you will see the trailhead for White Rocks Trail on the left (west side).  The hike starts at this trailhead.

Hike and outdoor meeting – We will hike the beginning portion of the White Rocks Trail and end up on the white Navajo Sandstone ledges for our outdoor AA meeting.  The hike is approximately 1/3 mile long and goes through loose sand and up onto slickrock.  The AA meeting will be approximately 1 hour.  You will want to dress for the weather – it could be cold in the morning.  Bring water and your honesty, openness and willingness.

The hike leader is a local geology and archaeology guide who will point out prominent features, and talk about local geology, archaeology and plant resources.

Meet at 9 am on Saturday, February 25, 2022 at the Red Lion Hotle lobby. (MAP)

Please car pool because the trailhead is very small and can only accommodate 6-8 vehicles
